After years as a wholesaler, Youshij was pivoting to direct-to-consumer retail — which meant competing with the brands it had spent those years supplying. A consumer identity had to be built from nothing, without disowning the heritage that made the product good.
The answer was positioning through aesthetics: factory precision crossed with retail desire. The images foreground the range of models and the quality of the leather, because those are the two things only a manufacturer can honestly claim.
Six months of content production, aimed at an audience that watches price but buys on quality. Shooting a manufacturer’s range through a high-end lens is what converted the factory into a brand.
Role: Creative Strategist, Content Director
Case study
Turn a manufacturer's strength into a consumer brand advantage.
The challenge
After years as a wholesaler, Youshij was pivoting to a direct-to-consumer retail model. This created a strategic conflict: they were now competing with the very brands they used to supply. They needed a consumer-facing identity built from scratch, without alienating their heritage.
The strategy
Positioning via aesthetics. We needed to communicate factory precision mixed with retail desire. I developed a visual strategy that foregrounded the diversity of models and the quality of the leather — assets only a manufacturer could claim.
Execution & impact
Over a six-month incubation period I led content production aimed at a price-conscious but quality-driven audience. Showing the product range through a high-end lens established Youshij’s initial retail footprint, converting manufacturing strength into a consumer brand advantage.
